Week 2

Coaching skills (A.S 1.5/1.8)

Practical sessions for coaching this week involved students having prepared one warm up activity to be completed by their group, as well as two drills. The template for the coaching write up is outlined below. This is expected for each coaching session as part of your assessment; then you will have the written work as proof of your organisation.

Key pointers to think about whilst coaching are:
- your organisation will make things so much easier for the flow of activities that you are doing. Have your equipment ready to go, and know how you are going to be setting it up, in what order you plan to coach it.
- As a coach, don't just outline the drills that you want the group to be completing. It is important that you explain also what you want them to focus on, how the drill applies to their chosen sport, and then provide feedback and feed forward throughout the session.

Biomechanics theory (A.S. 1.2 Part 2)

During the theory lessons this week, we have focussed on completing the understanding of the remaining biomechanical principles and applying them to a sporting context. Both projectile motion and levers were covered, which are the final concepts needing to be taught. The slide below was also used, so make sure that you understand the information on this to be able to pass your test, which will occur on week 4, Monday and Tuesday.
